In this podcast we talk with Dr. Kay Shattuck, Director of Research for Quality Matters (QM) about QM, online course assessment, and the QM framework.
At its heart, Quality Matters is a faculty-centered peer review process designed to assess the quality of online and hybrid courses. QM is a nationally recognized quality assurance framework for online education that has grown into an initiative across every level of education with resources and materials available to both subscribers and the general public.

Thank you for the opportunity to discuss the good things happening at Quality Matters. It’s an exciting time for everyone involved at QM.
During the interview we touched on benefits for being a QM subscriber. I don’t think I got back to your question and wanted to follow-up just a bit: 1) We are an established community of practice that shares expertise, resources, and issues relating to online learning. Subscribers gain access into that community. 2) Subscribers have access to the latest edition of the Higher Education Rubric, including the invaluable annotations that accompany each standard. These provide explanation of the standard and examples. 3) Subscribers have access to the total package of interaction web-based course review tools. 4) Only QM subscribers will be able to state and display that a course meets QM standards of quality.
Anyone interested in more information about a QM subscription is encouraged to contact Michelle Pierpont (mpierpont@qualitymatters.org)
